Consolation Prize

Al Gore got the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts against global warming. Cool, as far as I'm concerned. It does seem to be a defiant kick in the face of the Bush administration, given their total disregard for the topic. But it also adds credibility and gravitas to the one guy who actually won the Presidency of this country, and who should have been sitting in the White House instead. It's as if it makes it clear: Gore v. Bozo.
And also, it creates awareness. Now every schoolchild in the world will know, if only for all of two seconds, that the guy who won the Nobel Peace prize is fighting to keep this planet safe from environmental destruction. Which is what my poor Mini Enchiladitos will have to deal with when they come of age if we don't take serious measures soon.
Maybe he should run for president again.
